Nick Turned 30 this year! So we had to go big! My Mom brought him over a cake, and we celebrated with the family. I made some lemon Meringue cupcakes (his favorite), and 6 or 7 of his favorite meals. We had the whole family over for dinner and ate buffet of his favorite things!
When Nick turned 23 I surprised him with a trip to Las Vegas. I had everything ready in the trunk, and told him we were going to go to his parents house for the evening. Then I drove right past the Exit. I got to Payson before he really started getting frustrated. :)
I handed him the packet of hotel reservations and tickets to the blue man group and his tune changed.
I got him GOOD! It was awesome!
A few weeks before his birthday he told me how fun that was and said some times he wished we could do it again. But with the girls it makes it hard to just pick up and go.
So, while its not quite as far and I couldn't surprise him in quite the same way (due to having to arrange babysitting etc.) I planned a fun 3 day get away to Midway.
It was SO nice, I found a vacation rental in the Zermatt condos! We had an awesome view right up against the mountain! It rained EVERY night. We had a balcony off the bedroom so we opened the doors and just snuggled into bed and listened to the rain! Thanks to the skylights in our condo we grew to LOVE the sound of rain! :D
The first night up there we headed over to the homestead crater for some snorkeling. He had never been there before.
I must say, it was fun when I went there for prom but it was better with Nick :)
The Next day we went on a 2 hour horseback ride up Soldiers Hollow!
It felt so good to get back on a horse! Its been a long time for both of us!
The scenery was SO beautiful!
I very much recommend it to anyone!
We also REALLY enjoyed the food in Midway they have some REALLY awesome restaurants there! They have this fun Authentic Mexican restaurant and bar called Tarahumara! I LOVED the salsa bar, and Nick loved the tamales! It was awesome to sit over in the bar and listen to the live singing! We ate dinner there 2 nights in a row!
Also, nick got his first REALLY AMAZING baklava since he lived in Russia!
Thank you Susan Fox! Its awesome to have a family connection to one of the best bakeries EVER!
It was so good to have some real quality time with each other to just relax, and talk, and move at our own pace!
Love you Birthday Boy!
