Growing like a Weed

Kinley is growing so fast! Its so hard to believe that she is going to be a month old this upcoming Tuesday! This morning after her bath I was getting her dressed and she is fitting into her 0-3 month old clothes now! She is 8.5 lbs now!

Here she is in her very first 0-3 Month old outfit!

LOVIN' the Tub

Just a week after we brought Kinley home her cord fell off and we were able to start giving her baths in the TUB! It not only is easier on me to bath her but she LOVES her baths :)

By the end of her bath, she was Zonked!

Cravings

I forgot to blog this before the baby was born, but I dont want to forget it! :)

While I was pregnant with Kinley I didn't have too many cravings but every now and then I would want something specific. Just a few days before Kinley was born I sent Nick (who was out getting a few things done) a text that said, "I want cake". About an hour later Nick walked in the door and handed me this......
It made me laugh SO hard! I loved it! From what he said it made the bakers day too! :) I am so glad I have a husband that makes me laugh everyday!

Kinley's First Bath

Yesterday Kinley got her first bath. My mom is a vet when it comes to bathing babies so she came over and taught us the ropes. :)Right before her bath
She could hardly keep her eyes open while she was getting her hair washed. She LOVED the head rub :)Look at all that hair! I love it, its probably the softest thing I have ever felt! All done & lookin' good!
What a pretty girl!

Hospital Stay

Our Hospital stay was great! The nurses were all wonderful, and took great care of us. 2 of my nurses up in labor and delivery were actually friends that I had grown up with and gone to high school with, so they took extra good care of me. :)

So Sleepy!

While Kinley was in the hospital she got her first rose. Grandpa Rife brought a yellow rose for Kinley, and a pretty white and pink rose for me.We had LOTS of visitors- Its great having family and friends close!Grandma AustinAunt KynsieUncle AlexUncle Tyler

We had so many more visitors, but didnt get pictures of everyone, thanks to everyone who came to visit! It was great seeing you!

First Days Home

We can already see a developing personality in this little girl. She is very patient (thank heaven!) and so far has been a great sleeper. After she was born she dropped down in weight to 6lbs 2oz so I have to wake her up every 3 hours to feed her. However, if I let her sleep, she sleeps for hours.

I was worried she would not be a fan of the car seat since she really likes moving around, and having her arms up above her head, or by her face. But on the way home from the hospital she slept. We didn't hear one peep out of her from the time we put her in the car seat until we got home. Whoohoo!
The night we brought Kinley home we had a little bit of a blow out diaper and ended up needing to change her clothes. Here she is in one of the night gowns that Nick wore when he was a baby cute eh? :D

February 2, 2010 (groundhogs day) our sweet little Kinley was born weighing 7lbs 2oz, and measuring 19in long. It was definitely a fight getting her here but DEFINITELY worth it. As crazy as it sounds I would do it all again in a heartbeat for her.

About 4 weeks ago the doctors found out that I had developed preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy) so, I was put on bed rest until they could get here here. We were sent into labor and delivery Saturday morning at 7am January 30, 2010 to be induced. Little did we know we were going to be there for a LONG time. (We blame this on my Mom who said a few weeks before she was born, "Maybe you will have him/her on groundhogs day, that would be fun!"

After 2 different cervix softening gels, 2 days on pitocin, breaking my water when I was only dilated to 1 cm, and a few other things, the doctors were running out of things to try. After they broke my water the contractions started coming hard. But my progress was slow to nothing. I was stuck at 2+ cm and 90% effaced. After about 9 hours of contractions my contractions started dropping and were not as strong. Still dilated to 2+ cm and 90 % effaced they decided that a c- section would probably be the best option. My doctor said that my uterus pretty much just "pooped out on me." (I don't blame it after 65 hours of labor!)

They got me all ready to go back for my c-section, made sure I was numb, and then they rolled me back. Back in the OR they started poking me and I realized that I could feel them poking me....so, I told the anesthesiologist that I could feel everything they were doing. He gave me a few more doses of the epidural and they started cutting. I don't know what happened but about 15 seconds after the epidural started working it wore off and I could feel everything again. I told him again, and he started pumping me full of anything he could. (since they were already cutting me open the doctors couldn't really stop at that point. ) In the end, nothing worked and I felt every last thing. As soon as they got her out they gave me a local anesthetic that made me fall asleep, while they stitched me up, and wrapped me in warm blankets because I was going into shock. When they got me back into my room, I was completely awake, moving my legs, and probably could have walked if they would have let me.

Although it was long, and hard the results were SO worth it. When Kinley was born Nick posted this as his status on facebook with a picture of her-
"Heres my baby girl, she was born last night at 12:41am by C section after 65 hours of labor. 7 lbs 2 oz, 19 inches long. I thought I'd experienced every aspect of love, and then I saw her."

I think that last phrase best describes my feelings too. Mom's always say "you will understand when you have one of your own." I thought I understood the love that I would have for one of my own children, but I didn't. Its different than any other love.

Although it will be hard, I will treasure all the sleepless nights, messy diapers, and busy days taking care of her. Soon enough she will be saying, "Mommy, I can do it myself." so, I don't want to miss out on the time I have where she needs me for everything.

We are so blessed we have this sweet girl. She is a miracle and we already cannot imagine life without her.

Nick & Kinley right after she was born (excuse the lack of pictures with me but I was sleeping. ;) haha!)
All cleaned up!
The last few days were pretty tiring for her too, I am sure! Yawn!
