While I was an ASL student in high school I was able to attend Silent weekend. Silent weekend is a retreat for high school students who are learning ASL. There, students are able to interact with deaf people and are required to be silent for 24 hours, using only American Sign Language to communicate.
It was always a really good experience for me and A LOT of fun.

This year I got to go as a chaperon!

(This years theme)
It was fun leading some of the activities and watching the students learn and play team building games.
I learned a lot myself too! Not to mention after not having an ASL class for so long I was REALLY rusty..this got me thinking in sign again. :D
We had a lot of fun staying up playing Phase 10 and chatting.

Yea! It was fun.
How fun! I used to go to Silent Lunch with my friends Natalie (who was learning sign) and Heather (who was deaf). We used to have so much fun and I always learned so much during that hour each week!
