November 9, 2011 I went in for a routine non stress test, and a growth ultrasound...well, in the words of the nurse after taking my blood pressure "You just bought yourself a baby today." :D
I had PIH (Pregnancy Induced Hypertension). Luckily, I was able to keep it under control through the pregnancy this time around on a small dose of meds. and didn't end up on bed rest like I did with Kinley.
But, on November 9th my blood pressure had spiked up. I was full term (38 weeks), the amniocentesis came back positive, showing that her lungs were mature. So, they decided to just get our little girl here rather than fight my blood pressure and try to avoid toxemia.
They sent me back to Labor and Delivery at 10am and got me all set up. By 4pm they gave me my epidural. Now, this was a HUGE fear for me..... not the actual getting the epidural, but the fear of it working or not. When I had Kinley my epidural didn't work and I felt the WHOLE ENTIRE C-section. They gave me 2 1/2 doses this time around and as soon as I couldn't wiggle my toes off we went. As they were rolling me back to the OR inside I was falling apart nervous.
I think the slight panic attack is pretty obvious in this picture. Even though it isnt the most flattering thing in the world :) Also, I didn't take a picture of me before going in to have her, because I was just expecting to go home for another 2 weeks. :) SO, I will post it :)
I thought they were still prepping me when I turned to Nick and saw him watching intently over the sheet that was up in front of me. I asked if they had started or something and to my surprise he said yes! I had no idea! It was FANTASTIC, I didn't feel a thing! :) Before I knew it at 4:46pm...I heard her little cry. She was here!
Mila (Pronounced Meela) Nicole Austin
Weighing 7 lbs 2 oz. - Measuring 20in. long
I got to see her for just a second and then off to the nursery.
She looked exactly like Kinley to me. I remember thinking for a second that I needed to label the pictures well to avoid being the awful Mom that says, "Ummm, I think this is you....." 20 years later.
Thanks to Kira we got a lot of great pictures of Mila in the nursery, and of her first bath.
I love this picture of Nick. I think he likes her... :)
All Clean! Nick told me proudly when I saw her for the first time outside of the few minutes in the OR that he got to choose her bow! That is almost as good as getting to cut the cord...right? ;)
What a cutie! I was so glad she was here safe!
Cant believe we are already a family of 4!
