<3, Nick and Kate
The fist time I met Grandma Tucker was while Nick and I were still dating, up at the Tucker family reunion in Altamont. She came up to me as if she had known me my whole life, gave me a big hug and kiss and said, "Here is my little angel."
2 weeks ago Grandma Tucker started having chest pains and they took her to the emergency room. Well long story made short a few days later she was down at UVRMC waiting to have 6 bypasses preformed.
When Grandma found out how many she had to get done, her response went something like this, "Great! I beat my sister! She only had to have 5 done!" as she smiled fearlessly.
Grandma: "Hey did I ever tell you guys about the geese? You know when they fly south how they fly in a "V"? Well you know that one side is always longer right? Do you know why? I found out why the other day."
Us: "no...umm...???"
Grandma: "Well, there are more birds flying on that side!"
She was telling jokes, smiling and telling everyone that she was going to be just fine.
Grandpa Tucker, Nick, and another one of her sons then gave her a priesthood blessing. Grandpa Tucker gave her the sweetest blessing, so tender and loving. I knew that she would be alright.
She was expected to be in ICU for recovery for 2-3 days and then in the hospital for another 4-5 days finishing her recovery. She just laughed at them and told them that she was going to be in ICU for a day and then in the hospital MAYBE 4 days after that.
Well, another long story made short she only ended up having 4 bypasses done and was in ICU for 1 day and in the hospital finishing up recovery with no complications for another 3 days. YOU GO GRANDMA! :D
I really think that her positivity was the one of the main reasons she has been able to recover so fast.
Its always a good reminder to me when I see people like her that being happy makes life so much better, and more enjoyable and it always poses the question in my mind why I would EVER want to be grumpy!
Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for your example to me of what kind of a person I should be and for being such a great example of everything good.
We love you!
